Meditation in the modern world has taken many connotations from letting the mind go blank to relaxation. Everyone in the world people are following Ashtanga Yoga for physical benefits or meditating improperly without any knowledge. In this study, it shall be established using verses from ancient scriptures that Meditation without an ‘object of meditation’ will not give permanent benefit, however ,when used with sound, correct mantras, regulated Ayurvedic diet, Massage, Energy and Bodywork that enhance flow of Prana through nadis and chakras will lead to prevention and healing of mental, physical and emotional diseases.
Definitions
I have listed below some of my favorites that pertain the system of meditational communication.
Definitions of meditation include continuous and profound contemplation on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature; (wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn ) A devotional exercise of, or leading to contemplation; A contemplative discourse, often on a religious or philosophical subject.
Meditation is a way of life. It is to be lived. We have a vast reservoir of energy in us, lying unused, untapped. Once we get in touch with this energy, our life changes from just being an ordinary to a divine one. ({Source: Soul curry Magazine}).
Buddhist meditation encompasses a variety of meditation techniques that develop mindfulness, concentration, tranquility and insight. ({.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meditation_(Buddhism)})
Practice of using mental skills to perform such feats as focusing attention on a single object for a long period of time; cultivating compassion, which involves the transforming of negative events; and creating a state of pure awareness of thoughts, emotions, and sensations without reacting. Benefits of Meditation:
Statistics and studies prove that people who meditate everyday are happier and peaceful compared to those who don’t. They’re also healthier, and live longer. And, their sense of well-being is much higher than that of non-meditators. In fact, meditators are so much healthier that some insurance companies charge lower premiums for meditators than for the rest of the general population. Meditators’ minds are also sharper, and their problem-solving abilities are better. Meditation has been found to lower cholesterol, ease pain, speed healing, curb insomnia and boost the immune system.
It can also help slay the demons of depression, anxiety and the kinds of compulsions that send you back three times to check the stove. By practicing meditation, you’ll feel more energized, gain self-knowledge and achieve a healthier state of mind. (Source: September 16, 2008 “forbestraveler.com”)
